Movies have an important place in my life. Since I’m not a man of words, I collect movie quotes instead. Note that some of these quotes are meaningful only if you have watched the movie.

Fight Club
Losing all hope was freedom.

The things you own end up owning you. “It’s only after you’ve lost everything,” Tyler says, “that you’re free to do anything.”

We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war… our Great Depression is our lives. You’re not your job. You’re not how much money you have in the bank. You’re not the car you drive. You’re not the contents of your wallet. You’re not your fucking khakis. You’re the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world. I say never be complete. I say stop being perfect Self improvement is masturbation.

V for Vendetta
We are told to remember the idea, not the man. Because a man can fail. He can be killed and forgotten. But four hundred years later an idea can still change the world. I’ve witnessed firsthand the power of ideas. I’ve seen people kill in the name of them; and die defending them. But you cannot touch an idea, cannot hold it or kiss it. An idea does not bleed, it cannot feel pain, and it does not love. And it is not an idea that I miss, it is a man. A man who made me remember the fifth of November. A man I will never forget.

Evey: Who are you?
V: Who? Who is but the form following the function of “what”, and what I am is a man in a mask.
Evey: Well I can see that.
V: Of course you can. I’m not questioning your powers of observation, I’m merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.
Evey: Oh…right.
V: But on this most auspicious of nights, permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace soubriquet, to suggest the character of this dramatis persona. “Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.”

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof. But if you’re looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror

Oldboy
Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone…

Be it a rock or a grain of sand, in water they sink as the same.

Code 46
Maria: If we had enough information, we could predict the consequences of our actions. Would you want to know? If you kissed that girl, if you talked to that man, if you take that job, or marry that woman, or steal that papel? If we knew what would happen in the end, would we ever be able to take the first step, to make the first move?

Nip/Tuck
Jesus is santa claus for adults

Seinfeld
George Costanza: You must be a witch or magician, because everytime I see you everybody dissappears.

George Costanza: But nothing happens on the show. It’s just like life. Producer: But why am I watching it?
George Costanza: Because it’s on TV!!!

Gattaca
You want to know how I did it? This is how I did it, Anton: I never saved anything for the swim back.

Hitch
Life is not the number of breaths you take, it’s the moments that take your breath away!

Donnie Darko
Gretchen: Donnie Darko? What the hell kind of name is that? It’s like some sort of superhero or something
Donnie: What makes you think I’m not?

Donnie: Why do you wear that stupid bunny suit?
Bunny: Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

Troy
If killing is your only talent, that’s your curse.

Mission Impossible 2
- No, she’s got no training for this kind of thing.
- What, to go to bed with a man and lie to him? She’s a woman. She’s got all the training she needs.
- I don’t think I can get her to do it.
- You mean it’ll be difficult?
- Very.
- Well, this is not Mission Difficult, Mr. Hunt, it’s Mission Impossible. Difficult should be a walk in the park for you.

Batman Begins
Why do we fall, Master Wayne? To learn to pick ourselves up.

Seven Years in Tibet
Then this is another great difference between our civilization and yours. You admire the man who pushes his way to the top in any walk of life while we admire the man who abandons his ego.

Proof
Let X equal the quantity of all quantities of X. Let X equal the cold. It is cold in December. The months of cold equal November through February. There are four months of cold and four of heat, leaving four months of indeterminate temperature. In February. It snows. In March. The lake is a lake of ice. In September. The students come back and the bookstores are full. Let X equal the month of full bookstores. The number of books approaches infinity as the number of months of cold approaches four. I will never be as cold now as I will in the future. The future of cold is infinite. The future of heat is the future of cold. The bookstores are infinite and so are never full except in September. I’m exhausted.
